Tornado WillCall

Hello Ladies! Sorry for the lack of warning, but I decided I was definitely making the hike to willcall at...oh...six oclock this evening. Which proved to be an interesting choice on my part as we sniffed bottles to the tune of the tornado siren going off, and employees told us to drive safely and enjoy our tornado as we left. I went alone this time, so I actually met a few forumers... 10dimensions, savagerose, beansidhe...and overall it was a pretty good time.

So! Without further ado, I give you "Capiz's Half-Assed Reviews, Round Two". I promise my references to things smelling wet had very little to do with the storm raging outside at the time.

Note: The ones annotated with a * means I bought them.

Ides of March 2009: comes off very clean, almost aquatic. Like it much better than the prior versions

Dole of King's Daughter: Kind of commercial... doesn't smell like any one thing in particular. It's just very... sweet.
Host of the Air: Green, very green. Grass and air.
Deserted Village: Kinda woodsy, but without that spicy resiny scent that always goes with wood. One of my favorites all night.
*Eanach Dhuin: a little on the masculine side, but it's beautiful. Vaguely aquatic, but not irritatingly so.

...because I bought Eanach, I got an imp of Leprechaun. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll let you know when I do.

Bohan Upas: ...banana bread? Apt that it's supposed to be poison, then, in that I'm allergic to bananas.
Apple of Sodom: bitter, rotted apple
*Lotus Tree: Sweet, light honey. Definitely not cat pee, Pru. Much milder than Hony Mone
Tree of Knowledge: Deep, rich fruit. Very interesting. Grape is strongest, but I also get apple.
Ya Te Vo: Exactly as described. Green, sharp, prickly. Holly?
Zieba: Clean, almost laundry detergent ish. It's prettier than that? But it definitely reminds me of.. clean sheets.

....I have to say, this whole set was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. They're very well blended and very realistic, true to their descriptions.

*Egle: much better than I expected. Very pretty, actually; sweet, woodsy but not overpoweringly so.
Belle Vinu: Red wood. There is no other way to describe it.
Miller's Daughter: wet straw.
Bensiabel: Also much better than expected. Plum + leather = a very interesting combination
Prunella: I get dead flowers and clotted cream. Eeeew.
The Rose: Virtually extinguishable from Rose Red, any year.
Rapunzel: high, sweet floral
Rumplestilzchen: Wet horse. The patchouli comes off like sweaty leather. Very very manly.
Sea Foams Blood: Pretty, dark aquatic. Aquatic lovers should check this out.
*Serpent with Glittery Eyes: lime = love. My favorite all night, hands down. It's got everything I love about Venom except the jasmine. Yuuuum.
Sea Foams Milk: Ocean.. and milk. Comes off like curdled milk to me. Yuck.
Thorns: Very offputting. Patchouli and...green.
The Witches Garden: ...okay. My mother, being a southern woman, makes a jello that consists of lime green jello, cottage cheese, grated celery, pineapple and cottage cheese. No lie. This blend.. smells just like that jello. Also no lie. Made me all nostalgic for my childhood, but I don't want to smell like it.
Little Sparrow: Smells like animal musk. Very realistic; I instantly pictured a small, wet bird.

The ones listed below weren't for sale, you just got to sniff them.

Tiki: I can't really describe it, but Jett, you need to go ahead and buy it.
Nudie: ...I can't really tell what this one smells like, either. Skin musk and ...lemon?
Pink Kitty: A commercial, sugary strawberry shortcake made with redi whip.
Unicorn: A homemade, real sugar strawberry shortcake with heavy, homemade whipped cream.
Clown: Possibly the most interesting blend I sniffed all night, there's a lot going on here. The licorice is the strongest, but it's candy, not anise. Then the rum as a backdrop, and it continues to evolve as it dries down. I'm not at all sure I would wear it? But I'm very glad I got to check it out.
Panther: Oh, yum. Pru, you'll probably love this, too. I'm most likely going to buy it when I can.
Dogs: Wood and coffee, with a subtle after hint of the irish. Not nearly as sweet as Pinched, and not a duplicate, surprisingly enough.
Tiger: Oh, I don't like it at all, and I'm glad I tried it now because I was totally going to buy it.

Planting Moon: Garden vegetables. The green beans are most dominant. It's very accurate? But I don't understand why anyone would want to smell like that.
Flower Moon: Heavy floral, with green accents. I have a bottle of this coming to me already; dunno whether I'm going to like it, but I intend to let it age and see.
Yorick: ...I don't even know what this is or where it came from, but all it smells like is Dirt.

Le Mat:

Motley: I was the first to make fun of this, but actually? The mushroom is almost nonexistent. It's pretty good, surprisingly enough.
Marotte: Definitely pear -- very light and pretty
Coxcomb: Okay, this one's pretty fucking sexy. The moroccan musk is yuuuummy.

Together: It works surprisingly well. I'm going to give serious thought to buying this set. It's not like anything else in my collection and it's pretty delish.
